Only works with iPod 3G, sleek and portable, but priced high given its sound quality.
This dock looks nice and sleek as it's made of matte-finished silver metal with glossy white and clear plastic. You can slide your nano into this dock, the Nano batteries and the speaker batteries are both charged while it's connected to the white plastic wall charger (included). It's pretty small at roughly 4 inches X 2.5 inches and about 1 inch thick which makes it portable. It includes a black carrying case and a white stand although the dock can stand up by itself if you don't want to carry the stand.

The audio quality is ok, enough to fill a medium sized room. For it's price I expected better audio quality though. Unfortunately this system does not have very good stereo separation and sounds rather flat. In fact, some cheaper competing products have richer sound. However, it beats its competition in the form factor. The volume is controlled by a small black knob on the side of the dock.

Be warned, it works ONLY with iPod Nano 3G. There is no separate headphone type connection for using any other MP3 player, which I think is a big miss as I own a Zune, a Sansa and Nano and it would be nice to have one small portable system that can be used with all.

Overall, I think it's a nice solution for personal listening for iPod Nano 3G owners but it does not pack the punch to be used for a party. If portability is not a factor in your decision, you're better off getting a larger system with richer sound. However, if you're looking for a rechargeable and portable deck that is small enough to take everywhere, this is a good choice.

Doesn't work! And only $40 from Creative.
I purchased this 3 months ago. It used to work 30% of the time, but is now not functioning at all. The sound was okay and predictable when it used to work, but would fade on and off. Now, it will not even play, unless plugged in, and only for 30 seconds. Waste of money.

Not My Absolute Ideal, But Still Good
I like this speaker. It's much easier to use this than to use computer speakers, which is what I used to have to use if I wanted to share my iPod music with others. It's also great for watching videos -- not only is it easier for me to hold onto this device than to grip a tiny 3rd-Gen iPod Nano, but I can also place this speaker in its (included) plastic stand and be totally hands-free while watching videos.

The sound quality isn't phenomenal, but neither is an iPod's... and you can't expect awesome sound quality out of a single speaker, anyway. Still, you can adjust the volume on both the speaker and the iPod, allowing for quite a range of volumes.

Cons: The included informational materials warn that one must always carefully, delicately remove the iPod from the speaker base, or risk damaging the iPod. It isn't easy to remove the iPod -- I have to pull on it in just the right way. It'd be nice if there was some sort of release button to make things easier for the user and safer for the iPod. Also, the iPod must be removed from the speaker base before it can be synced -- no big surprise there. But what I don't like is that I also have to remove the iPod from the speaker if I suddenly want to listen to the iPod with headphones. I wish there was a headphone jack on the speaker somewhere. Aside from that, though, I really like this speaker, especially how it makes the iPod easier to hold when watching videos.

There may be better products of similar nature on the market for a lower price, but for what it's worth, this product works well and would be one to definitely consider.

Defective product
Prompt shipping so I received the product quickly. Unfortunately, the product was defective and returned. Return process was smooth and credit was received without any problem. My 1 star rating is a result of the product being defective. I would have preferred to not to rate the product because I was unable to use it.

Two years old and going strong
I needed a pair of speakers to go with my laptop (iBook G4) and I didn't want the hassle of an extra AC adapter, and these speakers fit the bill. Some of my friends have cute portable speakers that are very small, but the sound suffers accordingly (especially when they obliviously push them far beyond their capabilities). These may be larger than some portable speaker sets, but they sound great and the carrying case is super handy. My major beef with these speakers, though is the cabinet design. Certain resonant low-end frequencies cause the speakers to buzz and walk across my desk. It's annoying on two levels.

Somewhat related: There's something funky with Mac's DVD Player app: Loud sounds in movies will cause the sound level to drop drastically and then gradually come back to the set level. I thought using the USB output might mitigate the problem, but this is the case whether I'm using the speaker output or the USB port. FWIW.

Great Speakers, Great Price
Received these as a Christmas present, and I must say it's one of the best gifts I receieved. I'm hardly an audiophile and don't know much about speakers or sound system technology, but I do know that these things were a VAST improvement over the tinny, weak sound I had been getting from my built-in laptop speakers. Deep, rich, clear sound with great bass. Like I said, I'm hardly an expert on laptop speakers, but I highly recommend these. I especially like the fact that they plug in via a USB port, and come with their own nifty carrying case. I also have a Logitech webcam I bought a while back- it seems to me that Logitech is becoming my go-to brand when it comes to quality computer accessories. Highly recommended.

Catholic Madam Speaker
Nancy Pelosi shared her journey from being a daughter of the mayor of Baltimore to the Speaker of the House in 2007. It is the exciting, remarkable odyssey to share in the center of power house with the President. It is the Catholic faith, Italian-American, discipline, balance and support she maintained in reaching her goal in many chapters.

In Chapter 8, she mentioned Tibet and Dalai Lama as a champion of human right. Our country will be a better union if she keeps that fighting spirit for those homeless camped in the frosted lawn of San Francisco City Hall, the poor at the south side of Los Angeles, East St Louis and Detroit, the 46 million without health care insurance and the 4.5 million unemployed.

She shared the operation of democracy in Washington with a presidential denial (P.117). She commented that 22% of world elected officials are women while US only 17% (P.127). However, she did not elaborate on the fact that many 2nd & 3rd World countries already had women in high positions notably in Philippines, Pakistan, Israel. Her statement "don't overstate what you deliver, and always complete the task agreed to" (P.128) reminded of my advice to my daughter "under promised, over delivered". It was admirable that Nancy went to Congress and cracked the old boy club and had the freedom of movement.

Nancy is right in the assessment of the cost of Iraq War. However, Iraq is still the unaffordable to win, lose, leave or stay liability with the opportunity cost "of forty days in Iraq could pay for the ten million children getting health care in US for one year" (P.162).

Nancy Pelosi is the American idol in inspiring all Americans, especially the X,Y generations. She achieved a great chapter in American history and it is encouraging to see that in Decision 2008, each political party had a woman candidate runner.

America welcomes the first Madam Speaker. Will a Madam President too far away?

A Gutsy Lady
I love this inspiring book for American women. Mrs. Pelosi learned early in her career to keep it short, make your point without too much verbage. This enables high school girls, young mothers and career women with a lot on their minds to read this without all the details of a biography.

Speaker Pelosi's first act as Speaker was to finally require new spending bills to come up with the means to pay for them. The right wing voted against this rule - my GOP rep said it was a sneaky way to de-fund the Iraq War (wrong). Too bad when the GOP had control of Congress they didn't follow this edict.

Pelosi's own constituents constantly bugged her to impeach George Bush, as she should have, but she felt with only two years left he couldn't cause too much damage & the fight would cause harm to our country (wrong).

My only wish of this book is that Pelosi had included photos of her gutsy career. Don't pay any attention to the hateful Right who are viciously jealous; their own representatives don't hold a candle to this Classy, Truthful woman!

Now that I've read some of it...
I saw this in the library and checked it out to see if it was really that bad. Well, after reading some of it, I have concluded it was written for young girls to read or the manuscript was so sloppily done that the editor shaped what he was given into this form. This isn't in a form for adults.

The first chapter starts out with 'It was cold day in January, 1987'. The Second chapter starts out '...It was a cold day in January, 1947...'. Januarys are often cold. I haven't made it to chapter 3 yet but wouldn't be surprised to see that January is just as cold there too.

I believe she actually wrote this book. Maybe she didn't type it. Maybe it was heavily edited to get it to this level of readabilty. Anyway, the book has some organization problems. It jumps around quite a lot in the early chapters that I have read. For example, In the first chapter, she touches on her friendship with Sala. After 7 short paragraphs, which I would have to call indented sentences, she releases the line 'And so it came time to say goodbye' to her cancer stricken friend. Five paragraphs later, short paragraphs that is, comes the line 'And so I ran for Congress'. And so it goes.

Other things are confusing such as when describing her son's minor defiance and her empathy towards his wearing of a piece of yarn to school. 'Of course, having been in his shoes, I understood. But years later, apparently, I forgot.'

ANother thing that confused me was ' Never losing faith, we waited through many years of struggle to achieve our rights. But women weren't just waiting; they were working' 'we waited' follwed by 'they weren't just waiting'? This is like an essay written by a rambling high school student.

Anyway, it may be acceptable for third to maybe eigth graders to read and maybe it should be judged from that aspect.
